April mornings in Key West are usually in the low-to-mid 70s and humid at dawn, warming fast after sunrise. It is mostly dry season. Sunrise is about 7:00–7:15 AM, so the 6:00 AM start is roughly an hour before sunrise.

Key West airport is about 2 miles from Higgs Beach. Miami is roughly a 3.5–4 hour drive. April is peak season in Key West. Book your hotel early.
